A new week
Greetings.
There was no entry for Friday, 28 January. After leaving for home on Thursday, my
gout condition reared its ugly head, attacking my left ankle and foot, making it nearly
impossible to walk or move around. In case you are not familiar with gout, here is the 411:
Gout is a form of arthritis. When uric acid crystallizes on skeletal bones, it causes intense and excruciating pain in the bones and joints. A pill called allopurinol helps to control the build-up of uric acid.
I ran out of my prescription of allopurinol. Needless to say, I thought I could get by with not getting more. And, as always happens, it bit me in the butt. So, I stayed home from work on Friday. I realized as I was home, that the everyday shoes I wear for work had worn out. Being overweight, with flat feet, I am very hard on shoes. Finally bought new shoes last night. Going to see the doctor today at 3:20pm (central time) :-)
The championship game of the National Football League is this coming Sunday, February 6. I hesitate to use the term super bowl since it is copyrighted by the NFL, and they have been known to sue people who use the term without permission. What is this
country coming to......................
I would love to hear from anyone who reads these blogs. Email me at

Hello again
Hello again people.
A slow day at work today, which is where these blogs originate from. The California train derailment
is the hot news item, which gets my interest because my father (RIP) was a freight train engineer for 25 years.
It would have been longer, but he was the victim of pranksters who caused a derailment on the track on which he was driving, and as a result he suffered a back injury which, while not debilitating, rendered him unable to work after that. He did enjoy retirement, having 20 years to pursue his hobby of antique automobiles. During that time, he was diagnosed with diabetes, losing his lower right leg to it in 1999. Then bone cancer appeared, and he passed away on July 30, 2002 at the age of 76.
Anyway, Dr. Condoleeza Rice was FINALLY confirmed as Secretary of State. But not before Barbara Boxer and Teddy Kennedy and Robert (Ku Klux Klan) Byrd had their say. Yet for all of their supposed power, they could not bring this honorable and gifted woman down. Rather than impugn her integrity and character, they should lift up Dr. Rice as an example of how to live and conduct yourself. But I digress..........
Having said that, I find myself wondering if the Iraq policy was the right way to go. At first it seemed that the President made a compelling case for removing Saddam; now I just wonder if he felt bad for daddy (Bush 41) and decided to finish up the job. We are seeing that nation building doesn't work in Muslim/Arab dominated areas. We shall see.........
Always interested in your thoughts. Email me at huggyman65@aol.com

I'm back......
Hello again friends.
You no doubt have noticed the address to my blog includes "bobisahugger." Let me explain.
I was raised in a very affectionate family. There were plenty of hugs and kisses to go around.
In many areas today, that is no longer considered appropriate. Funny, since it seems every guest on a talk show, hugs the host, or on a game show, people hug...............but in real life, because of
concerns over child abuse, it is frowned upon for the most part, unless it is within your family. But I digress.......
I am a social and fiscal conservative. Having said that, I do not always toe the Repulican Party line.
In some ways, the national parties, both of them, are so out of touch with those they claim to represent, that I am unsure whether "we the people" will ever be truly heard. For some good insight concerning this and other things, check out www.mensnewsdaily.com From there you will find good articles, and links to other web sites.
I am what people would call a born again Christian. I prefer to say, "follower of Jesus Christ."
We are not the whackos that the mainstream press and Hollywood portray us to be. It seems to me that those who preach "tolerance" mean that you must be tolerant of the one who preaches tolerance, yet the one who preaches tolerance can be as intolerant as he or she wants, in order to satisfy his/her own agenda. Got all that?
Just remember: When someone screams, "That's not fair!" what they mean is "Waaaahhhh! I didn't get my way!" If everyone was dealt with fairly, we wouldn't like it.
More later........

Greetings friends
Hello and welcome to Random Meanderings, my very own blog. While many people may think that I am not real smart, not real talented, and overall kinda goofy, I hope to prove that every once in a while, I have some coherent thoughts that might actually be worth considering. This post is really just a test to ensure that, indeed, the blog has been established. As I formulate thoughts and ideas, they will be posted for your perusal and thoughtful consideration. Have a great day.
